How To Make Cinnamon Cookies

Spice Cookies Recipe

Enjoy cinnamon cookies, known as Zimtmakronen in Germany, thoughout Advent.

Bake and present spice cookies to your family and friends in gift boxes for a truly wonderful gift.

My recipe makes about 65.

German Zimtmakronen

250g ground hazelnuts
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla flavouring (granulated if possible)
4 egg whites
pinch of salt
1 tsp lemon juice
250g caster sugar
approx 65 hazelnuts

Mix together the ground nuts, cinnamon and vanilla flavouring. Beat the egg whites with the lemon juice and salt until stiff. Gradually fold in the sugar to the beaten egg white mixture. Lastly fold in the nut mixture.

Using two small spoons, place small mounds onto a lined baking sheet.

Top each cookie with a hazelnut and bake in a preheated oven at 160 degrees C for about 20-25 mins. Leave to cool and then enjoy with friends and family.
