Maultaschen is a German Schwabian (Baden-Württemberg)

Sounds like my mothers cottage cheese dumplings.

Instead of meat/Spinich fill pocket with cottage cheese low fat seasoned with a little onion. Boil the dumplings in water as you would boil noodles. Drain after 11 min.

Add dumplings to serving bowl and top with milk and also buttered bread crumbs. My family are german but have called Russia there home for many centuries. There is a club in Omaha NB for german/Russians. I spoke to a member and they also make it. But we call it Mudleglase( wrong spelling) Its been my favorite since birth. When ever my grandmother would come from Canada we would have all my aunts and uncles, cousins to enjoy this meal.

Another way is to fill with mashed potatoes seasoned with a little onion and cook as the other recipe.
