German Käsespätzle Recipe

by Nicole

Tried a really delicious Käsespätzle in Garmisch and it had 3 different types of cheese. I'm looking to duplicate it on my own, anyone have any ideas?

Kaesespaetzle

Hi Nicole,

The thing to do is experiment with Spätzle. I have a recipe under side dishes for Spätzle.

To make Käsespätzle you will need 200g strong cheese (Bergkäse, 4 onions and 80g butter.

Cut the onions into rings and fry in the butter until golden brown. Set to one side.

Put the Spätzle in a large pan or frying pan, add a little butter and the grated cheese. Mix cheeses, use up leftovers from fridge etc to experiment with taste.

Serve on warmed plates and then sprinkle the fried onions over the top.
