German Chocolate Cake Frosting Recipe

Coconut-Pecan Filling and Frosting


An easy German chocolate cake frosting recipe for you to ice your favourite cake recipe.

Chocolate Cake Icing

4 egg yolks
1 can (12oz) evaporated milk
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1-1/2 tsp vanilla flavouring
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 cups dessicated coconut
1-1/2 cups chopped pecan nuts

Beat egg yolks, evaporated milk and vanilla flavouring in a pan and whisk until well blended. Add the sugar and butter and simmer on a medium heat for 10 mins until thickened and golden brown, making sure to stir constantly. Remove from the heat.

Add the dessicated coconut and chopped pecans. Mix together and leave to cool.

Use to frost your Bakers German chocolate cake. You can also use this recipe to frost your favourite cupcake recipe.
