My fruit nougat recipe is one of many delicious German Christmas candy recipes. Make a large batch and wrap them in cellophane or pack in a bright festive box. Homemade christmas gift recipes are always greatly appreciated.
My homemade Christmas candy is dead easy to prepare and requires no baking skills.
For the nougat:
oil for the baking form
400g dark nougat
150g good quality dark chocolate
90g sliced almonds
140g glace cherries
1 dessert spoon Grand Marnier
50g pistachios
For the chocolate coating:
200g milk chocolate
Lightly oil a baking tray and line with aluminium foil. Cut the nougat and dark chocolate into small pieces and melt in a metal bowl over a pan of hot water. Roast the sliced almonds in a pan, without fat, until golden brown.
Sprinkle the Grand Marnier over the glace cherries and quarter them. Mix with the pistachios and almonds and then stir into the nougat mixture. Pour into the baking form and leave to cool in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Turn out the nougat onto a board and then cut into 1/2 cm slices and then into cubes.
Lastly melt the milk chocolate over a pan of hot water. Dip the nougat cubes, with the help of a fork, into the chocolate so that half of each cube is covered. Leave to harden on some baking paper.
Wrap your christmas gift recipe in cellophane or pack in a bright box.
