Mashed Potato Recipe

How To Make Mashed Potatoes

Germans are great fans of potatoes and this mashed potato recipe is a great side dish to serve with your favourite German recipes. Fluffy, light with a light taste of nutmeg, enjoy this potato recipe with meats or a fish dish.

German Kartoffelpuree

Mashed potato is known as Kartoffelbrei or Kartoffelpuree in Germany. This recipe is a typical Bavarian recipe and is best served piping hot. Why not serve it with my best meatloaf recipe for a warming hearty meal.

Perfect Mashed Potatoes

You will need:

1kg floury potatoes
1/2 litre milk
salt and a little nutmeg
1-2 dessert spoons butter

Cook the potatoes in boiling salted water until tender. Drain well and immediately press through a potato ricer into a pan.

Boil the milk and then whisk into the potatoes. Add salt and nutmeg to taste. Add the butter to the mashed potatoes, whisk and serve immediately.
